Our Story

In 1992, Romil Sethi determined in her resolve to help in the development of economically weaker individuals, set up a  school and centre to help marginalised children from ages 3 years and upwards to find their feet and develop holistically. .

In 1992 the society managed a welfare centre in Dayal Singh Colony (a basti next to Friend's Colony, New Delhi) which included a creche for children, sewing classes, adult literacy classes, and a youth club for the local community. It also conducted eye and health camps within its ambit.

However, it was in 1999 that Mrs. Romil Sethi, with the support of the Urban Slum Development Board, established the Radico Welfare School in Kalkaji, extending the scope of the society as well as its contributing role.

What started out as a Primary School to empower children through education, nutritional, and health programmes, has grown exponentially to support a wider community of women through the Mahila Mandal and sewing classes. These classes not only provide them with a means of livelihood but also help them develop a skill set that can benefit society. Additionally the school provides academic and financial support to its alumni as they transition into secondary education and thereon.

Built on love and unwavering faith of a visionary that every child has the right to education, and equal opportunity, in 2018, as a tribute to its founder for her unstinting commitment and unwavering devotion to make a difference, the society was renamed Romil Sewa Sanstha. The school was rechristened as Monsoon Kids.

After years of selfless and untiring service towards bettering the future of the indigent, Mrs. Sethi had to step back due to her advancing Alzheimer' disease. Her vision is being carried forward by a team of dedicated board members, volunteers, teachers and support staff that is a testament to the leadership model that has been embedded strongly in the system.
